The mission of ARC-Tober is to help book lovers, reviewers, and content creators tackle their towering pile of Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) while boosting their NetGalley ratio and connecting with fellow readers. This month-long challenge encourages readers to have fun while making progress on their ARC lists, whether it’s catching up on overdue reviews, discovering new releases, or enjoying thrilling, cozy fall reads.
Through community support, creative prompts, and a variety of challenges, ARC-Tober is a celebration of all things bookish! 📚✨
1. Read ARCs – The main goal of ARC-Tober is to read as many ARCs as possible throughout the month of October.
2. Track Your Progress – Use our Bingo Card and/or the StoryGraph Challenge to track your progress. The more squares you check off or books you log, the closer you’ll get to completing ARC-Tober! In addition, you can submit to our book logging form to help us track stats and get entries to the giveaway!
3. Weekly Photo Challenge – Participate in the weekly photo challenge for a chance to win prizes. Complete all four prompts to enter!
4. Use the Hashtag – Share your reading updates, photos, and reviews using #ArcTober2024 so we can see your posts and feature your progress!
5. Connect with Others – Engage with other participants! Comment on their posts, share your thoughts, and celebrate your reading milestones together. ARC-Tober is about building community.
6. Don’t Stress! – ARC-Tober is all about fun. Don’t worry if you can’t finish every prompt or hit every goal. Any progress is good progress!
7. Giveaways and Prizes – Stay tuned for special giveaways and prize announcements throughout the month! Make sure to follow the giveaway rules in each post to qualify.
Horror or Thriller - Read an ARC from the horror or thriller genre. Perfect for a spooky October!
Debut Author - Read an ARC by an author who is publishing their first book.
October Release - Read an ARC that is scheduled to be released in October.
LGBTQ+ Rep - Read an ARC featuring LGBTQ+ representation in its characters and/or author.
Author You Love - Read an ARC by an author whose work you’ve previously enjoyed.
Your Oldest ARC - Read the ARC that has been sitting on your shelf or in your digital library the longest.
Set in Fall - Read an ARC that’s set in fall or makes you feel like it’s fall.
Your Newest ARC - Read the ARC that you recieved most recently.
BIPOC Author - Read an ARC by a Black, Indigenous, Person of Color author.
Indie/Small Press Author - Read an ARC from an indie author or small press publisher.
Genre You Don't Usually Read - Read an ARC from a genre that’s outside of your usual reading preferences.
Cover You Love - Read an ARC you probably requested based on the cover alone.
Book in a Series - Read an ARC that is part of a series, whether it’s a sequel, prequel, or another installment.
November Release - Read an ARC that is scheduled to be released in November.
December Release - Read an ARC that is scheduled to be released in December.

Get ready to add a visual twist to your reading journey! Throughout ARC-Tober, we’re hosting a fun and creative Weekly Photo Challenge to celebrate your ARCs and keep the community engaged. Each week in October, we’ll share a new prompt to inspire your bookish photography.
Whether you’re showing off spooky reads, autumn vibes, or your latest ARC stack, we want to see your creativity come alive! Participating in all four weeks enters you for a chance to win a special prize at the end of the month!
1. Follow the Weekly Prompts – We’ll release one prompt at the beginning of each week in October. You’ll have the entire week to post your photo interpretation.
2. Post Your Photo – Share your photo on Instagram using the prompt, and don’t forget to tag us and use #ArcTober2024 in your caption so we can see your entry.
3. One Photo Per Prompt – Each participant can submit one photo per week. Make it count!
4. Complete All Four Prompts – To be entered for the grand prize, you must participate in all four weeks of the challenge.
5. Fill Out the Challenge Form - At the end of the month, when you've completed all four prompts, fill out the challenge form to enter the giveaway.
6. Engage with Others – Comment on other participants’ photos, show support, and build the ARC-Tober community! The more you interact, the more fun it is for everyone.
7. Have Fun! – Get creative-this challenge is meant to spark joy and celebrate all the ARCs we’re diving into!
